Hey everyone! Midori and Audioclique will be playing this Friday evening at The Phoenix Theatre in Petaluma (January 9, 2009). The show starts at 8pm, and the other bands that are playing are The Girl with the Violent Arms, Joe Red, Jetpack!, and Planet of the Apes. This will be Midori’s first show at the Phoenix, and I have to tell you she is really excited! The venue is first rate, and the other band members all swear its one the best venues that they’ve played….great sound system, nice atmosphere, cool building, and big stage. Its gonna be a great time!

They were nominated for four (4) Effigy Awards (Best Female Vocalist, Best Group, Best Artist in Style (General Rock), and Most Popular Band). We really appreciate all of the fan’s support with these awards, and with the Our Stage Award we received this past December (1 Pop Song with “Motionless”). Also, with your votes “Swim in my Ocean” finished 8 in the Top 20 Global Breakthrough Charts on ABC Network Radio Fame Games in January! Yeah!

Also, we are halfway through writing the songs for our 2nd CD which will be released Summer 2009 (I think in June or July). We are starting to book our CD release shows for the Summer, and to prepare for the shows we are booking some of the local schools and colleges. We are going to play at Cardinal Newman next month, and plan to play at several more Sonoma County and Marin County Schools before the summer vacation. Let us know if you want us to come by your school…we really enjoy those shows!

So, we look forward to seeing you at the Phoenix Theatre in Petaluma this coming Friday at 8pm! Cover is $8, and CD’s will be on sale at the show.

Hey everyone! As many of you know, Midori and Audioclique is regularly featured on ABC Network Radio Fame Games. Well, Fame Games is hosting their 2nd Annual Effigy Awards in January 2009, and we really need your votes please!!!!!! There are several categories, and we encourage you to vote in all of the categories that you want to.

However, we ask that you please vote FOR SURE on “Best Overall Artist”, “Best Overall Vocalist”, and “Best Female Vocalist”! The voting is pretty straightforward…go to www.effigywards.com and sign up (if you aren’t already a member of Fame Games), and then follow the steps to vote! FROM LAST WEEK”S BLOG -

I’ve been spending a LOT of time in the studio finishing the “I Can’t Say Goodbye” recording…we probably logged 40 hours of recording, mixing, and production on this so far…I am trying to find a sound that is unique but very current and accessible. I finally “finished” it this afternoon, and we just posted it on our MySpace site and also put a downloadable version of it on our merchandise site (go to either www.myspace.com/midorilongo or to www.audioclique.net and follow the link to our “Official Merch” site.

We set the Merch Site up a few weeks ago, and Conor designed our FIRST Midori & Audioclique T-Shirt. We are going to create a bunch more shirts in the next few weeks, and we also put up all of our songs as well as a ringtone of “Bring It”. Check it out and give us some feedback on things you’d like to see on the site. Also, we are going to have a shirt deign contest in early 2009….I’ll let you know when we kick it off.

We also set up a Sneak Preview site on our our website (www.audioclique.net)…if you sign up I’ll send you a password so you can access the page. I try to post all of the songs that are in progress on this page…keep in mind the songs aren’t finished, but it will give you an idea of the stuff we are planning to launch in Summer 2009.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything…we’ve been keeping really busy, and the holidays are packed pretty full. We’ve been working on a couple of things…Conor has been busy getting our latest video (Take Me There) completed. We had Amanda Brown do Midori’s choreography, and she really did a fantastic job. I can’t wait to get the video posted! Conor is really putting a lot into this video and we hope to be completed with it before Christmas…we have our fingers crossed. I saw the first 20 seconds of the video, and it was totally awesome. Great job Conor!

In addition, I spent a day down in Los Angeles to meet with one of Sony’s producers, Bruce “Automatic” Vanderveer. He let me hear some of his material that he recorded and produced, and he also sang me a song he recently wrote. It was totally cool, and we hope to work with Automatic in the near future.

Hi everyone,

Midori has had quite a number of You Tube hits over the last two weeks since she posted her tribute to Barack Obama. So far we’ve had almost 10,000 plays in a two week period, and we are getting tons of comments from folks. Just about all of the comments are very positive, and a consistent comment we are hearing is how Midori represents the “idealism of youth”. Now, this is very true…however this song is more of a challenge to our new president than a broad endorsement. Check out the words:

Hi Everyone. Tonight (Saturday September 27) Midori & Audioclique are playing in Healdsburg at the Raven Theatre for a great cause: the Jimmy MacDonald Peace Officer Scholarship Fund. Doors open at 6pm and the tickets are $25. The band and I got a chance to meet with Jimmy MacDonald’s parents last night at a barbeque dinner for all of the folks that are particpating in this fund raiser, and it was an eye-opening and emotional time. You see, I think us “normal” citizens just take for granted what it takes to be an officer of the peace, and just as importantly,what it takes to be a family member of someone who is a peace officer. Clearly, I think we all know how dangerous it is and I think that we all know how important a job it is…although some of us grumble when we get that speeding ticket.

Kito and I spoke with Jim and Toni last night about their son, Jimmy, who was killed in the line of duty…and it was just heartbreaking. Jimmy had gone to high school with my baby sister, Mia, here in Santa Rosa…that’s how we became associated with this event. Jimmy always wanted to be a police officer, and he ended up going to school for it down in Southern California. He was working in Compton (yeah…the really rough part of Los Angeles) as he was finishing school, and he had JUST accepted a job in San Jose. On his last night of duty on a Saturday night, he and his partner did a routine traffic stop. The driver ended up being a paroled gangster who decided he had to kill these two officers…I was told that he had drugs in the car or something and did not want to go back to prison. He shot both officers and then executed them as they lay on the ground. Tragic…that gangster kiilled someone’s son…just like that. Bang. And then he took off.

Jim and Toni told me that since this tragic event, neither one of them have gotten a full nights sleep….just 3 or 4 hours per night. They told me that doctors tell them they suffer from the same thing that returning soldiers have…post traumatic syndrome, and that it will likely never go away. So they deal with it the best they can. You see, I never thought about that before. I would see stories on the news about a police officer who was killed in the line of duty, and I would think it was a sad thing or I would get angry at the person who killed the officer, but I guess I never really internalized it. But last night I spoke with two people who got that news from another police officer…and that police officer had to tell them that their son that they brought into this world…from infancy to childhood to adulthood…was killed…dead…not breathing…never to speak or listen to again…no more hugs, arguments, or laughter…ever again. How the hell do you tell them that? I couldn’t do it…

Jim told me that when they brought their son’s body back from Los Angeles, that all of the police departments escorted their motorcade all the way back to Santa Rosa. The SFPD blocked the streets of San Francisco, holding traffic back at every light, as the motorcade made it’s way up 19th avenue, through Golden Gate Park, and across the Golden Gate Bridge. And once across, the Police Departments in Marin escorted them all they way up to the Sonoma County line, at which point all of the Police Departments from Sonoma County like Petraluma, Rohnert Park, Cotati, and Santa Rosa took over. Now, I always wondered why the death of a police officer drew so much support from so many other police officers and departments….it seems the funeral motorcades are always miles long…and I always wondered why. I know the death of someone is tragic, but it seemed extreme that so many people who didn’t even know the victim would want to go to the funeral. But now I think I get it, and it is a beautiful thing.

Jim and Toni told me that Jimmy’s death was unbearable for them, but the other police offiers rallied around them and helped them cope with their suffering…a large extended family that intimately understood their suffering and anxiety….and they all rely on each other because, tragic as it may be, it is inevitable that more will fall…and no one really knows who, when, or why. It is part of the job that they have sworn to…and average joes like me never really think about it until we hear on the news about an officer being killed in action. Yeah, I know that all of us have our own opinions about officers of the peace, and there will always be political divides, philisophical differences of opinion, and diametrically opposed agendas of the left and the right…and yes, a lot of the times we stereotype police officers in a certain category. But at the end of the day we are all brothers and sisters…sons and daughters. And don’t kid yourself…I don’t care who you are…we rely on the peace officers…especially in this society we live in today. And when one of them goes down in the line of duty, they deserve the respect of not just all of their police brethren, but from all of us.

And I am glad and proud that Midori and Audioclique are playing at this benefit to honor Jimmy MacDonald…and all of the fallen sons and daughters out there.
